When you combine Star Wars and kitchen gadgets, something magical happens. It renders objects normally designed to be functional and unimaginative into ones full of whimsy and wonder. When I recently moved into my new place it gave me an awesome excuse to stock up on, you guessed it, some Star Wars kitchen gadgets. So I thought I’d share them with you all and give a brief review for each item.
BB-8 Waffle Maker | Grade: A
I’ll start things off with the BB-8 Waffle Maker. Being the “Queen of Droids” I knew I was going to need this as soon as it was announced. I mean BB-8 AND waffles?! It really doesn’t get much better than that.
I am very happy with this purchase. It’s only marginally more than you’d pay for an ordinary looking one and it’s produced quality waffles every time I’ve used it.
Darth Vader Oven Glove | Grade: B
I just couldn’t resist this Darth Vader silicon oven glove. It’s very cool looking, but still gets warmer than I’d like when using it to take things out of the oven. It is, however, perfect for choking the aspirations of those around you.
Astromech Canisters | Grade: A
These ridiculously cute guys were a no-brainer. Where would the Queen of Droids be without her minions? These droids are adorbs but a bit smaller than I was expecting. They weren’t big enough to store flour and sugar like I was hoping, so they’ve been repurposed as bathroom storage containers.
Lightsaber Spatula | Grade: A+
This little gem is amazing. Not only does it have the awesome Lightsaber handle, but it also has the words “Star Wars” laser cut into the spatula part. Perfect for smashing cookies with the Star Wars logo if you so desire! It is also very good quality and is one of the best spatulas I’ve ever used!
R2-D2 Bento Box | Grade: C
This bento box is obviously a fun, inspired design. But even though it looks cute, it’s quite annoying to figure out how to open (especially with no instructions provided.) You have to pull his little arms off at just the right angle and hope all the contents don’t go flying everywhere. A cute novelty item that could use some improvements.
Astromech Salt & Pepper Shakers | Grade: B+
Of course, I’m most likely going to love anything droid related. So it makes me really sad that the paint is just slightly off on the domes. But I’m willing to look past that due to the absolute charming adorableness of these porcelain shakers. Cute as can be and GREAT conversation starters!
